ICLR&D is a legal information research and development lab based in London at the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for England and Wales, publisher of the authorised law reports of judgments decided in England and Wales.
The Lab is a dedicated environment for exploring and improving the entire primary law eco-system, with a particular focus on case law. We fuse design, data science, legal scholarship and agile development principles in an open and collaborative setting.
Our major research campaigns take the form of long-term Projects that focus on discrete themes, such as the application of natural language processing to legal texts, through to the use of plain language and graphic design to improve the accessibility of primary legal materials.
Automatic enrichment of unstructured legal text using rules-based and predictive techniques.
A conceptual project focused on modelling the connections between the various sources of English law.
We publish the bulk of our research as articles on our blog. Our most recent work will appear here.
